Update: On Wednesday, October 14th I saw the last showing of Boruto: Naruto the Movie. It was a wonderful film as expected. Perhaps, after the Naruto anime TV series ends in 2016 there will be a new anime series starring Boruto.
Below is a photo of me and an Emerald City Comics Games Toys cosplay actor dressed as Naruto in the lobby of the theater after the film.
It's not the greatest of photos, but it was an enjoyable evening of fun.

In
2013, a new phenomenon rocked Japan. A simple story about the fight for
survival resonated with viewers around the world, and Attack on Titan
quickly became a worldwide sensation.
Mankind has retreated
behind walls in the wake of the man-eating humanoid giants known as the
Titans. After a century of relative peace, a young boy named Eren and
his friends Armin and Mikasa venture to the wall’s edge with hopes of
seeing what’s on the other side. Then the unthinkable happens: a titan
larger and fiercer than any that have been seen before breaches the
wall, and titans flood the city. The future looks bleak, but Eren may be
humanity’s last hope against extinction.

Being a great fan of anime, I cannot help but notice the
number of effeminate male characters in many anime series and films. I am equally
awed by the strong portrayal of these characters. These effeminate males are
not wimpy foils to the heroes, some are the heroes.
In researching the reasons for such characters, I learned
that in life the term for them is bishōnen, and the meaning of bishōnen isbeautiful youth or
beautiful boy. Here in American such men are thought of as androgynous. However, people in East Asia think of them as young
men whom beauty and sexual appeal transcends the boundary of gender or sexual
orientation.

This in no way means that such men must be homosexuals. Although
some of them are known to be, many more are simply men whose physical beauty
and mannerism ravels those of women.
Below is my list of top ten effeminate anime characters from
some of my favorite anime.
The historical Hijikata Toshizou
was the vice-commander of the Shinsengumi, an independent volunteer unit of
roshi (or ronin) mostly of peasants’ origins. The Shinsengumi faithfully served
their shogun in the tumultuous years (1863-1869), which lead to the Meiji
restoration. However, Hijikata led the Shinsengumi in their final battles
against the new government. He died because he refused to
retreat from the last battle with the Imperial forces. He was 35. Toshizo
